Academic Admissions Application

Application to SBC programmes is made through the Admissions Office. Submission of the completed online application form along with all supporting documents and application fee payment (non-refundable) begins the formal application process.

Entrance Requirement

Applicants are to ensure entry requirements are met, including the English Language Minimum Requirements before submission of application.

PhD applicants are to submit a two-page proposal that states your research topic, research question, justification for research, research methodology, and intended outcome, and a one-page preliminary bibliography before submission of application.

Application Documents Requirement and Preparation

Applicants applying for programme studies are evaluated based on their maturity and intention to serve, academic qualifications, language proficiency, music proficiency (for music programme applicants), work and ministry experience, endorsement by sending agency, character assessments by their referees, spiritual gifts and ministry potential, age and physical fitness, and agreement with our statement of faith.

1. Documents to be uploaded onto the online application platform:

  • Photo: Passport-sized, colour photograph taken within the last three months and against a white background. 400 by 514 pixels in size and jpg image file format.
  • Certificate and transcript: All relevant educational certificates and transcripts attained. Transcripts in foreign languages must be translated into English.
  • Singaporean and Permanent Resident Applicant: NRIC (front and back) for Singapore Citizen and Permanent Resident.
  • International Applicant:
  • Passport biodata page with at least 1 year validity period.
  • Singapore Residency Pass (front and back) such as Work Pass and Long Term
    Visit Pass, if applicable.
  • Birth Certificate, if available.
  • English language proficiency result in the form of TOEFL (Test of English as a
    Foreign Language) or IELTS (International English Language Testing System) score, if applicable.
  • Bank statement of applicant or/and Individual sponsor(s) to guarantee sufficiency of
    funds, if applicable.

2. Written statements to be input in the online application platform:

  • A statement of the applicant’s conversion experience. Describe your salvation experience in about 800 words.
  • A statement of the applicant’s call to ministry. Describe your conviction about the Lord’s leading you into ministry and the area of ministry in which you are planning to serve in about 800 words.
  • A statement of rationale. Describe how SBC and the programme you are applying for will help you fulfil God’s call to Christian ministry in about 800 words.
  • A brief personal doctrinal statement. State briefly in your own words what you believe about the Bible, God, Sin, Satan, the person and work of Jesus Christ, salvation, the Holy Spirit, the church, and the second coming of Christ in about 1600 words.

What to Expect After Application Submission

References

  • Each application requires a church reference and three character references.?
  • Church reference: A pastor, organisation leader, church board member or member of a similar capacity from the church/organisation you have been affiliated with for the past two years.
  • Character reference: Your pastor/organisation leader, 1 ministry co-worker and 1 mature Christian. They must have known you for at least 2 years and are not related to you.
  • The online application platform will email an invitation to the reference contacts to fill up an online reference form. Applicants are to follow-up with their reference contacts to ensure their submission of the reference form(s) in the soonest possible time.

Tests/Interviews

  • Where psychological tests are to be administered, the online application platform will facilitate the process. Entrance tests and interviews may be carried out where applicable, and this will be communicated to applicants via email.
  • Applicants are to check their emails regularly for updates on their application progress and eventual outcome.
