Biographical Information?

Dr. Penny holds a Ph.D. in Counselling and Psychological Studies from Regent University (U.S.A.) and a Master of Arts in Pastoral Counselling from Singapore Bible College, graduating in 2010. With over 15 years of counselling experience, she specialises in marriage and family counselling, as well as individual mental health support. As a Registered Member and Clinical Counsellor of the Singapore Association for Counselling, Dr. Penny brings a wealth of expertise to her teaching role at SBC, where she teaches courses in Academic Research and Writing, Integration of Theology and Psychology, Counselling Issues, Social and Multicultural Issues, On Being a Therapist, and Professional Ethics and Ethical Issues. She remains committed to advancing her knowledge and skills in the field, and her international experience living in the U.K., U.S., and Australia positions her well to connect with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.

Beyond academia, Dr. Penny is deeply involved in community outreach, conducting workshops for churches and delivering talks on various mental health issues. As an active Executive Committee (EXCO) member of the Association for Christian Counselling (Singapore) since 2022, she co-organises events like the Christian Mental Health Conference and serves as one of the main trainers for Mental Health First Contact, a programme designed to equip pastors and ministry workers in mental health support.

Within her church community at Adam Road Presbyterian Church, Dr. Penny serves on the EXCO of the Mental Wellness Ministry, facilitating workshops and talks on mental health awareness, and journeying alongside brothers and sisters in Christ. Dr. Penny is happily married to Wey Lon, also an SBC alumnus with a Master of Divinity (Biblical Studies). Together, they have three adult children and grandchildren, enriching their lives with love, family, and shared values.
