Every semester, SOTE makes a selection of our courses available to alumni and interested individuals without requiring them to be currently enrolled in an SBC programme.
Whether you are our alumni or have not taken any of our postgraduate programmes, you are welcome to register for these electives at the School of Theology English.

This course explores world religions as lived, relational realities. Students learn core beliefs of primal/folk and major faiths, focusing on how these shape daily life. Emphasis is on meaningful interfaith dialogue and authentic relationships. The course includes convenient, recorded mini-lectures and six interactive online tutorials for deeper engagement and reflection.

Rev. Dr. Samuel Law is an Affiliate faculty and the Superintendent (English) of Advanced Studies, the Pastor-at-Large for the Evangelical Chinese Church of Seattle, and the Eastern Asia Hub Director for Durham University’s ECLASproject.org project. He has authored one book, co-edited two others, and published more than 45 articles and abstracts. He is currently based in Taipei supporting church planting ministries.

This course is designed to foster meaningful connections across generations by helping participants understand one another more deeply, engage Scripture together, feature generational voices and “superpowers,” and become more aware of potential areas of intergenerational tension. Participants will engage in a variety of experiential activities including visual and verbal prompts, table props, oral Bible study, theatre games, Living Library conversations, community music-making, simulation exercises, and life review practices.

Dr. Calvin Chong is Professor of Practical Theology and has been teaching at SBC since 1995. He is currently driving the community engagement work at SBC, which seeks to equip and support church leaders, congregations, and service providers in their ministries to and by seniors. He serves on the ExCo of the Methodist School of Music and is an active volunteer in community music programmes, events, and outreaches.

Churches can drift into decline and organically die within 80 – 100 years without regular revitalisation.? This course equips pastors and church leaders with a systems-based approach to sustain church vitality and guide revitalisation.?Designed for busy schedules, it features recorded mini-lectures, bi-weekly live tutorials, and practical case studies for grounded, immediately applicable learning.

Dr. Henry Wong was a Colonel in the Singapore Armed Forces before leaving military service in 2008 to enter full-time ministry. He holds a Master of Divinity from Trinity Theological College and a Doctor of Ministry from Singapore Bible College. He currently serves as Senior Pastor of Covenant Presbyterian Church. He previously served as Executive Director of Careworks Community Services and as a Director of Care Corner Singapore. He is married to Carol, and they have four children—Kirstie, Kelda, Keryn, and Keith—along with a daughter-in-law, Eunice, and two grandsons, Jude and James.

The four gospels and the book of Acts are the backbone of the Christian faith. In them, we witness the world-altering life of Jesus and the Church’s birth. In this course, we will dive deep into them, allowing the gospel of Jesus Christ to speak afresh into our lives today.

Rev. Dr. Leow Wen Pin is Associate Pastor at Bethany Evangelical Free Church, where he oversees preaching and instruction. He is also the founder of KIN, a disability mission organisation.
